Representatives of Marijampolė Prison Participate in International Inmate Art Exhibition in Poland

On 2–5 October 2025, representatives of Marijampolė Prison, part of the Lithuanian Prison Service, took part in an international exhibition of artworks created by inmates, held in Štum, Poland.

For more than two decades, this annual event has united correctional institutions from various countries in a shared effort to promote creativity, self-expression, and social integration among inmates through artistic activities. The longstanding cooperation between Marijampolė Prison and the Štum Correctional Facility, spanning over 20 years, has grown into a meaningful tradition that strengthens international ties and supports the exchange of best practices.

The exhibition also welcomed guests from the Czech Republic, with representatives of Rynovice Prison joining the event. Attendees had the opportunity to view a wide range of artwork created by inmates, including paintings, graphic works, sculptures, and various handicrafts. These pieces showcased both artistic talent and the positive impact of resocialization programs within correctional settings.

Events like this play an important role in fostering international cooperation, encouraging inmate creativity, and shaping more positive public attitudes towards rehabilitation and reintegration.
