Representatives from the Embassy of Norway visit prisons in Pravieniškės
On 17 April, as the conclusion of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism period neared, representatives from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Vilnius visited Pravieniškės Prisons No 1 and No 2 of the Lithuanian Prison Service.
The prison governors Linas Nanartavičius and Mindaugas Žirlys welcomed Mr Eirik Lyberg Bergene, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Norway; Mr Vytautas Valaitis, the Honorary Consul of Norway; Inga Rudzinskaitė-Colman, Senior Political and EEA/Norway Grants Adviser; and the trainee Samantha Jørgensen.
The guests were keen to learn about the changes being implemented in prisons as part of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism project. They toured a halfway house and prison accommodation areas.
Lithuanian Prison Service implements the Project Development of Quality Based Lithuanian Correctional Service System(PDP 3) under the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms programme Justice and Home Affairs 2014-2021.
