Partnerships and Progress: Lithuanian Prison Service Participates in UNODC Event

On 18 November 2025, representatives of the Lithuanian Prison Service took part in the online event “Transforming Practice: Launch of the E-learning Courses and UNODC Material for the Penitentiary Academy”, organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) together with the Ukrainian Penitentiary Academy.

The event marked the official launch of new UNODC e-learning courses developed for Ukraine, aimed at strengthening the professional competencies of correctional service staff. UNODC-prepared textbooks, designed in line with international methodology, were also presented and handed over, providing additional tools to support training and capacity-building efforts. Participants further explored opportunities for continued cooperation in developing modern, evidence-based training resources.

During the discussions, representatives from Bulgaria, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Estonia, and Finland shared insights on integrating e-learning solutions into the professional development of prison staff. The exchange highlighted the importance of continuous learning and the value of innovative training formats in enhancing the effectiveness, resilience, and professionalism of correctional systems.
