Lithuanian Prison Service Team Joins Yellow Ribbon Run in Prague
On May 10, the Lithuanian Prison Service proudly participated in the Yellow Ribbon Run held in Prague—an inspiring international event promoting social reintegration and second chances.
The run brought together more than 700 participants from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, along with 400 volunteers who supported the event. The Yellow Ribbon Run aims to strengthen connections between prisoners, their families, prison and probation staff, volunteers, and NGOs.
This symbolic initiative highlights the importance of inclusion, rehabilitation, and collaboration across borders. Lithuania previously hosted its first Yellow Ribbon Run in Kaišiadorys last year, marking its growing commitment to the cause.
We are proud to contribute to such meaningful international efforts and celebrate the enthusiasm of our team members who represent not only the Prison Service, but also the country of Lithuania.
The Yellow Ribbon Project was launched in Singapore in 2004. It aims to promote community, understanding and mutual support, contributing to a more open and welcoming society.
The Yellow Ribbon Run was inspired by the popular song of the 70s “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree” by Tony Orlando, based on a true story published in The New York Post in 1971.
