Lithuanian Prison Service Representatives Participate in PROMOTE Project Partner Meeting

On May 14-15, representatives of the Lithuanian Prison Service took part in the PROMOTE (Promoting Integrated Professional Development for Prison Practitioners in Vocational Excellence for Offender Reintegration) project partner meeting held in Lisbon, marking a significant step forward in the development of vocational excellence for prison practitioners across Europe. The Lithuanian delegation included Nerijus Sujeta, Head of the Competence Development Board; Alina Jusitė, Project Manager of the Planning and Project Unit; and Justė Šalaviejienė, Chief Specialist of the Finance Unit.

The next phase of this project will involve the development of training programmes and a learning platform.

It will be available to all Lithuanian Prison Service staff and their partners.

The next PROMOTE project partners’ meeting is scheduled to take place in Lithuania next year.

The PROMOTE project is an initiative funded under the Erasmus+ Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) programme. The project aims to establish a unified and continuous vocational training framework over the next four years, tailored specifically for professionals working within the correctional system.

This is the development of a pilot professional learning mechanism for practitioners working in or with the justice system for the successful return and integration of prisoners into society. The aim is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience, to encourage participation in research, with a focus on the personal experience of learners and the updating of competences. The aim is to empower practitioners to become active participants in their own professional development and problem-solving process. The project is expected to bridge the gap between different levels of professional training, ensuring that all professionals working in the correctional system have access to learning resources that build relevant professional competences.

The Lithuanian Prison Service joined this strategic partnership in April last year, collaborating with 17 other institutions from 10 European countries.
