Lithuanian Prison Service Representatives Participate in International Conference Organised by Ukraine
On 29 May, representatives of the Lithuanian Prison Service took part in the international online scientific conference “Modern Penitentiary System: Challenges and Solutions in Conditions of Military Conflict”, hosted by the Ukrainian Penitentiary Academy.
Deputy Director General Linas Nanartavičius, along with Chief Specialists of the Resocialisation Coordination Unit Renata Katinaitė-Lodh and Valentina Siliuk, represented Lithuania at the event, which brought together experts and practitioners from various countries to discuss the evolving challenges faced by correctional systems during military conflict.
The conference focused on critical topics such as correctional system management, criminal and justice policy, prison security, crime prevention, the protection of prisoners' rights, resocialisation programmes, and probation services.
The Lithuanian delegation contributed to the exchange of European best practices and participated in discussions comparing how different countries prepare for and respond to large-scale emergencies in the penitentiary field.
Organisers of the event expressed hope that the conference would serve as a foundation for long-term international cooperation in prison management, resocialisation policy, and the professional development of correctional staff.
