Lithuanian Prison Service Launches Follow-Up Bilateral Initiatives under EEA and Norway Grants

The Lithuanian Prison Service, in cooperation with the Programme Partner, the Ministry of Justice, the Directorate of Norwegian Correctional Service, and other Lithuanian and Norwegian institutions, is set to implement a series of follow-up activities under the EEA and Norway Grants. These activities, scheduled for 2024-2025, are designed to strengthen the quality of the Lithuanian correctional service system, aligning it with European and international standards, including human rights standards.

In total, 17 pre-defined bilateral initiatives will be implemented, with key components including:

  • 17 targeted activities.
  • 14 internships in the Kingdom of Norway for 122 Lithuanian Prison Service staff members.
  • 7 visits to Lithuania by Norwegian partners.
  • Participation from the Lithuanian Probation Service, trade union representatives, and NGOs.

These initiatives aim to foster enhanced collaboration between Lithuania and Norway. The planned activities will contribute to the exchange of experience, knowledge, and best practices.
