International Dialogue and Opportunities for Cooperation at Vilnius Prison
During a visit to Vilnius Prison, representatives of the Lithuanian Prison Service held a constructive meeting with international partners: Nicolas Dubois, Vice Consul of the French Embassy in Lithuania and Head of Mission; Anouk Lemoine, Representative of the Internal Security Service for the Baltic States; and Colonel Cyril Cuvillier, Internal Security Attaché for the Baltic States from the French Gendarmerie.
The delegation expressed strong interest in the Lithuanian correctional system, including its organizational framework, operational practices, and detention conditions.
Key topics presented and discussed during the meeting included:
- The structure and operational principles of the Lithuanian prison system;
- Measures aimed at resocialization and reintegration of inmates;
- Ongoing innovations and reforms focused on ensuring human rights.
Particular emphasis was placed on identifying opportunities for future collaboration, including:
- Strengthening inter-institutional cooperation;
- Promoting the exchange of best practices;
- Implementing innovative solutions in the field of sentence enforcement.
Such visits play an important role in reinforcing international partnerships and establishing a foundation for long-term cooperation. These efforts contribute to the development of a more modern, humane, and effective correctional system.
