Erasmus+ Internship in Ireland – Strengthening Competences in the Correctional System
From 7 till 11 July 2025, the Lithuanian Prison Service, in partnership with the Irish Prison Service Training Centre, carried out two activities under the Erasmus+ project “Enhancing Professional Skills through Practical Training in the Institutions of the Correctional System.” These included group staff mobility and job shadowing.
Three experienced officers, five new recruits, and a KUV specialist participated in the five-day programme. The internship introduced participants to the Irish correctional system, staff training principles, and best practices, combining theoretical sessions with hands-on experience.
The delegation visited prisons in Dublin, Portlaoise, and Cork, engaging in training, discussions, and direct observation of Irish officials' daily work. This international exchange enriched participants' professional skills and fostered collaboration with Irish counterparts.
The Lithuanian Prison Service expresses sincere gratitude to the Irish Prison Service for their hospitality, professionalism, and continued partnership in building a modern correctional system.
